Venous Disease Progression

Venous disease is a progressive condition that without definitive treatment will get worse over time.  Initial symptoms may be spider veins, small reticular veins or varicose veins.  If left untreated, these can progress to more advanced symptoms and disease such as leg edema/swelling, skin pigmentation and ulceration.  Conservative management such as compression stockings may temporarily relieve symptoms, but the underlying venous disease remains present.  Only definitive treatment such as Radiofrequency ablation procedure, microphlebectomy or sclerotherapy will treat the underlying venous condition to avoid disease progression.
